Keanu Reeves is one of the world’s biggest action stars, but many people don’t realize that he’s also one of the most charitable celebrities in Hollywood.
The 54-year-old John Wick star is an extremely private person, in spite of his fame and renown as an actor who has starred in multiple blockbuster film franchises. While many celebrities are more vocal about their philanthropy, Keanu keeps quiet (for the most part) about his many good deeds.
As it turns out, Keanu runs a private charitable foundation to fund cancer research and children’s hospitals.

Snopes reports that the actor told Ladies Home Journal back in 2009:
“I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research. I don’t like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does.”
Cancer research is a personal cause for Keanu. His younger sister, Kim Reeves, was diagnosed with leukemia around 1991 and battled the disease for about a decade before going into remission.
“Money doesn’t mean anything to me. … I give lots away and live simply. … We all know that good health is much more important,” Keanu once said, according to Hollywood.com.
