Sasha, an 8-moth-old pit bull quickly became the hero of the house after saving his owners from a house fire.
In June, 2018, a fire from a neighbor’s home in Stockton, California had spread to the Chai family’s home. When flames began to engulf, Sasha’s owner, Latana Chai and her baby were inside the apartment building.
Sasha started to behave strangely, banging and crying at the backyard door. Chai told Abc
“As soon as I opened the door, she runs in, starts barking,” Chai described.
At first, she was confused, then she realized her cousin’s apartment, which was right next door, was up in flames. “I ran into the room and I saw Sasha. She has my baby by the diapers, just dragging her off the bed trying to get her to safety.”, Chai wrote on a GoFundMe page intended to raise money after losing her home in the fire.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and were able to save most of the building. Latana Chai and her cousin’s apartment were destroyed in the blaze.
The family said that without Sasha’s barks and bangs they may not have made it out alive.
“I owe her everything. If it wasn’t for her, I would have still been in bed and things could have taken a worse turn,” she said.
