A single mother and University of Tennessee student was brought to tears by the heartwarming response she received from a professor after she missed a class.
Morgan King is currently studying therapeutic recreation, but she had to miss a class because she couldn’t find child care for her infant daughter, Korbyn. She emailed her professor, Sally Hunter, who responded by inviting her daughter to class. She even offered to hold the child as she taught in class!
“In the future, if you are having trouble finding someone to watch Korbyn, feel free to just BRING HER with you to class,” Hunter wrote in the email. “I would be absolutely delighted to hold her while I teach, so that you can still pay attention to the class and take notes.”
Morgan tweeted that she shed tears of gratitude for her professor’s understanding and shared the letter she received from Hunter: “Told my professor I missed class yesterday bc I couldn’t find childcare & this was her response. I’m literally crying. So blessed/thankful.”
She received an outpouring of support from around the world and many applauded her professor’s response. They praised Prof. Hunter for her generosity and compassion.
Prof. Hunter soon realized that her letter was garnering a lot of attention and sent a quick letter to Morgan saying, “I can’t believe so many people are reacting to that email I sent you earlier this week. Seems to me that inviting Korbyn to class was just the decent thing to do.”
Update: I just went to email my professor to let her know I posted her email and it went viral but she beat me to it! Hahaha #twitterfamous pic.twitter.com/4n8EEc0zux

Morgan said that balancing school, work and motherhood by herself can be tough. She lost her mother to breast cancer last year.
“It is so hard,” King said. “But I am so determined to graduate and get my degree for Korbyn and I. It’s not just about me anymore. I have to do this for us.”
