Even if you do not have your own kids, you will certainly know from brief observation of the lives of other moms of how stressful having them can be. No matter how organized a mom is, or how well behaved her children are, being a mom is as rewarding and stressful as can be at the same time!
One recent survey has found that although having a child is stressful, the magic number which causes the most stress is having three children!
The study conducted by TODAY Parents in 2013 on 7164 moms in the US found that those who had three kids were even more stressed out than those who had four.
What’s even more worrying, although perhaps not so surprising is that the stress levels of the participating mothers was approximately 8.5 out of 10 on average.
The study also found that 60% were stressed from their daughters rather than their sons. Another 60% revealed that they felt that there were not enough hours in the day for them to get everything done.
Dr Janet Taylor- a psychiatrist told TODAY that moms that have other kids after the first three are often more relaxed. “There’s just not enough space in your head for perfectionism when you get to four or more kids,” she said. “The more children you have, the more confident you become in your parenting abilities. You have to let go … and then you’re just thankful when they all get to school on time.”
The study also found that 90% of moms stress about being fit and attractive!
Luckily, despite all the stress, it can be agreed that kids bring their parents a lot of love and fun that can never be replaced by anything else!
